Long time neighbors of E.B. Gray, Overton Department Store is one of the oldest small businesses in Overton County, being founded in 1961. The Department Store was established by Barney and Arxie Seber, and has been passed down through 3 generations over the years. Barney and Arxie started the family business with the purpose to create a local hometown store that provides a variety of high quality products at an affordable price. The business was passed down to their daughter, Marla Kay Etheredge, who now runs the store with her son Greg and his wife Lindsey. Under the Etheredge family, the Department Store has continued to achieve Barney and Arxie's goal of providing high quality affordable products, and giving back to the community that has given so much to them.

The Overton Department Store offers a complete array of clothing items for everyone in the family, from infants to children to men and women. They also hand wrap and package gifts, feature children's toys and baby registries, and have tuxedo rentals that are headed by Greg, who has been tailoring since middle school. Their hours are 9-5 Monday-Saturday, but are willing to make exceptions for special occasions for their customers. The family loves being on the Square, and having the chance to serve generations of customers in the community, which has come to feel like extended family.
